Healing the Sick in the Name of Jesus Christ

Enter Text

As a demonstration of God's unchanging love and compassion towards us, it is my understanding that healing is for today and Jesus commanded us to actively pray for the sick with the authority He has given us (Mark 16 verses 17-18).

Jesus spent about one third of his time healing the sick in the Gospels and I believe that we should have a similar emphasis in our Christian ministry today.

Jesus consistently healed all who came to him (Luke 4 verse 40, Luke 6 verse 19) but used different methods. Here are some used by Him and the early church:

* TOUCH (Mark 3 v 10, Mark 5 v 28, Mark 8 v 22)

* LAYING ON of HANDS (Mark 5 v 23, Luke 4 v 40, Acts 28 v 8)

* FAITH (Mark 10 v 52, Luke 7 v 1-10)

* WORD of COMMAND (Luke 7 v 11-16, Luke 4 v 38-39)

* ANOINTING with OIL (Mark 6 v 13,

* HANDKERCHIEFS and APRONS (Acts 19 v 11-12)

* SHADOW and PRESENCE (Luke 5 v 17, Acts 5 v 15-16)

It has been my privilege to personally witness many healings as I have endeavoured to put this into practise myself over the last 40 years. I often say "I can't heal anybody' but the Holy Spirit working through me can.

Be encouraged and let us be flexible and learn from one another as we activate this command.
